Indian Hills Wins Slugfest

Centerville -- Indian Hills scored a season-high 15 runs and overcame some shaky defense to dump Southwestern CC 15-11 on the Falcons' home diamond on Thursday.

The Falcons were given eight walks to go along with 10 hits and five Southwestern errors in posting their third win in a row.

Indian Hills jumped out to a 13-3 lead after five innings but didn't help themselves with seven errors.  Southwestern made things interesting with a six-run 6th inning and added single runs in the 7th and 8th before IHCC relievers Marcco Lovato, Brennan Floss and Jose Marin closed out the win for the home team.

Starter Adam Deneke got the win, going the first five innings.  He allowed two hits and three runs, all unearned, with three strikeouts.

The big inning offensively was the 4th when Indian Hills tallied five runs.  Kevin Cicali had a bases-loaded double in the inning as part of a four-RBI day.  Kevin Valera slugged a three-run homer in the 2nd and Jordan Berry knocked in a pair of runs for the Falcons.  Cicali also scored three runs.

Indian Hills returns to conference play this weekend when the Falcons host Marshalltown CC in a four-game set at Pat Daugherty Field.
