17-Hit Outburst Leads to Split

Iowa Falls, IA -- A 13-run, 17-hit attack in the second game allowed Indian Hills to gain a split of Thursday doubleheader at Ellsworth CC.  The Falcons drubbed the Panthers, 13-3, after dropping an 8-4 decision in the opener.

Darryl Velez had his best game of the spring in game two, going 4-for-5 with four runs scored.  Nicholas Perez had three hits and three RBIs, and Caleb Ratzman, Edgar Lebron, Jordan Berry and Junior Santos all had two-hit games.  Santos also drove in three runs.  Dario  Polanco homered in a four-run 7th inning after the Falcons had scored four times in the 6th.

Luke Schneider started and went the first 5 1/3 innings to get the win for IHCC.  He allowed only four hits and struck out eight.  Brennan Floss finished with 1 2/3 innings of one-hit relief.

Ellsworth used a four-run 3rd to get the scoring started in the first game.  After IHCC pushed across three runs in the 4th, ECC scored two runs in each of the next two innings.

Lebron had a two-run double, Berry an RBI two-base hit and Ratzman a run-scoring single for the Falcons.

Jose Marin started and took the loss.  Both Marin and  Jose Hernandez went three innings.

Indian Hills takes its 23-16 overall record and 10-6 conference mark to Marshalltown for a four-game series against the Tigers this weekend.
