First-Inning Explosion Leads to Easy Win

Centerville -- Indian Hills sent 15 men to the plate in the first inning, scoring a dozen runs and the Falcons went on to rout Iowa Central 15-1 at Pat Daugherty Field on Tuesday.

The huge first inning began with a double by leadoff hitter Caleb Ratzman and he added another double later in the frame.  Dario Polanco had an RBI double and a two-run home run in the 1st and Polanco doubled home another run in the 5th.  Junior Santos had two singles, a double and an RBI triple for the Falcons who won for the 7th time in the their last eight games.

Eight of the Falcons' hits went for extra bases.

Adam Deneke was the recipient of the offensive outburst by IHCC, throwing the first six innings and getting credit for the win.  He allowed only four hits and an unearned run while striking out seven.  Sam Ross finished up.

The Falcons, now 15-10 for the season, head to Council Bluffs this weekend for a four-game series with Iowa Western.  IHCC is one game behind the Reivers in the league standings.
