Falcons Lose Opener at Seminole State

Seminole, Oklahoma -- Seminole State pounded out 18 hits and used a big seven-run 4th inning to spoil the Indian Hills Falcons' season-opener on Wednesday, beating IHCC 13-2.

Dario Polanco's two-run homer in the 5th accounted for the Falcons' runs.  Kevin Cicali had doubled ahead of Polanco's round-tripper.

Taylor Ostrich also had a double and Polanco and Juan Figueroa both singled as the Falcons were held to five hits.

Jake Stalzer got the start for Indian Hills and pitched three shutout innings before running into big trouble in the 4th.  By the time he was lifted, Stalzer had given up nine hits and was charged with seven runs.  He struck out six in his 3 2/3 innings of work.

IHCC used five pitchers after Stalzer and only two of the six runs they allowed were earned as the Falcons committed three errors.

Indian Hills' pitchers combined to strike out ten while issuing only three walks.

Next up for the Falcons is a Friday game with the Arizona State University club team, the first of 12 games for IHCC in the Phoenix area.
