Prescott, AZ -- For the second straight game, Indian Hills spotted their opponent a big lead and then saw their attempt at a come-from-behind win fall short. The Falcons trailed host Yavapai 9-3 after six innings and couldn't get closer than the final margin in losing 9-6.
IHCC got run-scoring hits from Taylor Ostrich and Adam Deneke in the 7th and Dario Polanco doubled and scored in the 9th to cut into Yavapai's advantage, but the Falcons' last-inning rally was snuffed out as three straight batters were retired.
Deneke had three hits while Ostrich, Polanco and Junior Santos all had two as part of IHCC's 12-hit attack.
IHCC left eight runners on base, six of them in scoring position.
Indian Hills used three pitchers with starter Alsis Herrera taking the loss. Joelfi Arias provided 2 1/3 innings of two-hit, shutout relief.
Next up for the Falcons is a date with Cochise CC on Thursday afternoon.
