Offense Comes to Life in 2nd Game as IHCC Splits

Fort Dodge, IA -- After mustering only two hits in the opener in a 2-0 loss, Indian Hills used an 18-hit attack to gain a split in a doubleheader with Iowa Central on Thursday.

IHCC scored in every inning but one, had five players with multiple-hit games and eight players who drove in a run in routing the Tritons, 11-2, in the second game.

The story of the first game was Iowa Central's freshman pitcher Dalton Cowen. He gave up a leadoff double in the 1st to the Falcons' Jordan Patton and then didn't allow another hit until Francisco Perez singled with two outs in the 7th. The hit by Perez put the tying runs on base, but Cowen got a groundout to second to end the game.

Iowa Central scored their runs in the 4th against IHCC starter Jordan Piche on a two-out, two-run single. Both runs were unearned. Piche only gave up three hits and didn't walk anyone while striking out four.

Indian Hills broke open a close game in game two with two runs in the 5th and then added three runs in both the 6th and 7th innings. Patton had a four-hit game for the Falcons, Carter Sherban had three hits and Adam Coleman, Miguel Sanchez and David Kroger had two hits each.

Kevin Day was the beneficiary of the offensive outburst for Indian Hills. Day threw a five-hitter with three K's in a complete-game effort.
