Hitting on Display in DMACC Baseball Win Over IHCC

Centerville -- Thirty-six runs and 33 hits were the final totals for the day in DMACC's 22-14 win over Indian Hills in non-conference baseball action at Pat Daugherty Field on Tuesday.

The Falcons were coming off a weekend conference sweep at Southwestern and with the 14 runs scored against DMACC have now scored 59 runs in their last four games. But what has to be troubling for IHCC coach Cam Walker is that his pitching staff has given up 56 runs in those four contests.

DMACC's offensive eruption included a nine-run 3rd inning and five more innings when they scored at least two runs.

The Falcons were forced to play from behind after the Bears' nine-run 3rd made it 13-5. IHCC scored nine runs over the final four innings, but it wasn't nearly enough to overcome all the DMACC offense.

Indian Hills also hurt itself defensively, committing five errors that led to six unearned runs.

The top two hitters in the IHCC lineup, Jordan Patton and Adam Coleman, had two hits and the next three batters, Yuliecer Arias, Matt Cook and Mitch Osnowitz, all had three-hit games. Osnowitz had his 3rd homer in the last five games. Cook drove in three runs and was on base six times. Coleman, Arias and Cook scored three runs.

Coach Walker used five pitchers and only the last of the five, Kevin Day, wasn't charged with a run.

On ThursdayIndian Hills will play at conference foe Marshalltown CC in a doubleheader that will not count in the league standings.
