A Win and a Loss for IHCC in Missouri

Lee's Summit, MO -- The Indian Hills Falcons traveled to Missouri for a pair of games on Saturday and came home with a split. The Falcons defeated MCC-Maple Woods, 9-2, then lost to MCC-Longview, 10-8.

The Falcons jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the opening game and cruised to the victory. Carter Sherban had his second straight three-hit game that included a double, a homer and four RBIs. Yuliecer Arias, Miguel Sanchez and Guillermo Cruz each had two hits and Arias drove in a pair of runs.

Matt Cook worked six innings and got the win for IHCC. He fanned eight. Shaun Dean finished up.

Against Longview, the Falcons went ahead with a five-run 5th, only to see Longview regain the lead with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Indian Hills scored once in the top of the 7th to cut the deficit to 10-8 and had the bases loaded with only one out. But back-to-back strikeouts ended the threat and the game.

Sherban had a two-run homer and Jordan Patton, Arias, Mitch Osnowitz and Sanchez had two-hit games.

Caleb Phillips was the losing pitcher in relief. All three runs he allowed after taking over for Adam Peters in the 5th were unearned.
