Two Wins Against Muscatine Keep Falcons Rolling

Muscatine, IA -- Indian Hills ran its winning streak to seven games, all conference victories, in sweeping a pair from Muscatine, 9-2 and 14-3, on Wednesday.

The Falcons had more runs than hits in both games, but took advantage of MCC walks and errors to push their season record to 28-20.  They are 16-10 in the conference.

Levi Grassley got the first-game scoring going with a leadoff homer in the 2nd inning.  The Falcons put the game away with four runs in the 5th and three in the 6th.  Taylor Ostrich had a 3-for-4 game, the only IHCC hitter with more than one hit.  Ostrich and Yuliecer Arias each drove in two runs and Arias and Adam Deneke both scored a pair of runs.

Jake Stalzer went the first six innings and got the win for IHCC.  He gave up four hits and struck out eight.  A.J. McElderry finished up, fanning two in his only inning.

The Falcons broke out the offense in the second game with home runs by Raul Centeno and Francis Marcelo.  Marcelo's shot was a three-run blow.  Darryl Velez, Guillermo Cruz, Marcelo and Zach Sims all had two-hit games and Marcelo scored three times with four RBIs.  Velez and Kevin Arroyo both had three RBIs.

Anthony Gagliardi teamed with Deneke and Tyler Sparger on the mound for the Falcons.  They permitted only six hits and struck out 12, seven Ks by Gagliardi in four innings.

Indian Hills will play a non-conference game at Southeastern CC on Saturday.
