Centerville -- Freshman pitcher Sam Ross went five strong innings in a starting role and Indian Hills backed him with two runs in the 1st inning and a four-run 4th to knock off visiting North Central (Mo.), 7-2, on Tuesday at Pat Daugherty Field.
Ross allowed only three hits and a pair of unearned runs. Dylan Settle and A.J. McElderry each went one inning in relief.
"It was a very good outing by Ross," said IHCC Cam Walker, "as he persevered through some shaky defense early in the game."
The Falcons (21-19) jumped ahead with two runs in the first on an RBI-double by Taylor Ostrich and a run-scoring single by Levi Grassley.
They added four runs on only two hits in the 4th, the big blow a two-run triple by Jeremy Delgado.
Adam Deneke closed out the scoring with a solo homer in the 6th.
Indian Hills will travel to Fort Dodge to take on Iowa Central in a non-league twinbill on Thursday.
