Lashlee Headed to Linsey Wilson College

Centerville -- Indian Hills sophomore right-handed pitcher Matt Lashlee has signed a letter-of-intent to continue his education and baseball career at Lindsey Wilson College, an NAIA school in Columbia, Kentucky.

Lashlee, from Colorado Springs, Colorado, is in his third season at Indian Hills.  He suffered a season-ending injury early in the spring 2011 season, then came back last year to appear in 11 games, six of them as a starter.  He won two games and struck out 21 batters while walking only nine in 34 1/3 innings.

Lashlee said he chose Lindsey Wilson mainly because of the success of the school's baseball program.  "I like the direction their program is headed," said Lashlee.  "I will get a chance to play for a team with a shot to play in the NAIA World Series.  Coach (Jonathan) Burton has set a standard of excellence for the program and I'm excited to be a part of that."

Lindsey Wilson is coming off a national tournament appearance last year and is ranked 12 in the NAIA preseason top 25.

"Matt has rebounded from wrist surgery in his first year at IHCC and his hard work and determination has shown us he is ready to compete for a starting position on the mound this spring," according to IHCC coach Cam Walker.  "He is a strike-thrower and possesses a very good breaking ball.  Matt has the size, frame and drive to develop his other pitches and the arm strength to become a quality three-pitch pitcher."
