Home Split for IHCC

Centerville -- Indian Hills scored eight runs in the 2nd inning and went on to defeat visiting Iowa Central CC and gain a split of Tuesday's doubleheader. The Falcons won game two, 11-2, after the Tritons broke a 4-all tie with four runs in the 5th and went on to win the opener, 10-4.

The Falcons sent 12 men to the plate in the big 2nd inning in the second game. Nine straight batters reached base in the frame on six hits and three walks. All of the hits were singles.

Adam Coleman went 4-for-4 for IHCC with three singles and a double, the lone extra-base hit for the Falcons. Francisco Perez had two hits and three RBIs and DH Carter Sherban knocked in a pair of runs.

Kevin Vazquez went the first 5 2/3 innings on the mound and Shaun Dean got the final four outs. They combined to allow five hits and one earned run.

The Falcons showed some resolve by bouncing back in a big way after losing the first game, according to coach Cam Walker.

In the opener, Indian Hills had tied the score at 4 on an RBI single by Jordan Patton. But they were blanked the rest of the way.

The Tritons scored six runs against reliever Dylan Badura, who took the loss. Patton and Kelvin Brito had three hits each for IHCC and Yuliecer Arias had two.

Patton was making his season debut after sitting out the season-opening Arizona trip with a broken hand. Walker said, "Patton played well both offensively and defensively. He showed what he can do for us as the season goes along."

Indian Hills is scheduled to be back in action on its home field on Thursday against Muscatine CC in a doubleheader starting at 2:00.
