Falcons Get Verbal Commitment for 2010

CENTERVILLE --- Indian Hills Community College baseball coach Cam Walker has received a verbal commitment from one of the top names on his recruiting list. Tyler Sparger, a righthanded pitcher from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, has told the IHCC coach that he plans to attend Indian Hills and play for the Falcons in 2010.
Sparger is a senior at Eau Claire Memorial High School. In his junior season, he had a 5-2 record with a 1.97 ERA. Playing first base when he wasn’t pitching, Sparger hit .462 with a homer and 22 RBIs. He was a first-team all-conference and second-team all-region selection.
Sparger played American Legion baseball this summer and was 5-2 with a 3.10 ERA. In 40 games, he had a .330 batting average with nine home runs and 45 RBIs. He was named to the all-tournament team at tournaments in Eau Claire and Lacrosse as well as the state tourney.
Sparger has also played for the Cincinnati Reds’ Midwest Scout team the last two falls. He threw a no-hitter in the 2009 Perfect Game Kernels’ tournament.
Sparger’s high school baseball coach is his father, Dave.
