Einertson to Speak at Baseball Banquet

CENTERVILLE --- An Indian Hills Community College graduate who pitched for the New York Yankees will be the guest speaker for the annual IHCC baseball banquet on Thursday, February 2. The banquet will be held at the Manhattan Restaurant in Centerville.

Darrell Einertson was a pitcher on Indian Hills teams that played in the NJCAA World Series in 1992 and ’93. Einertson had graduated from Urbandale High School before going to IHCC and pitched at Cameron University and Iowa Wesleyan College after his two seasons with the Falcons.

He signed with the Yankees after being taken in the 11th round of the MLB Draft in 1995. After working his way up through the Yankees’ minor league system, Einertson made his major league debut in April 2000. He appeared in 11 games and posted a 3.55 ERA.

The Indian Hills baseball banquet will include dinner, an auction, the introduction of the 2012 IHCC baseball squad and remarks by Einertson. A social will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7:00.

Tickets for the event are $15 each and can be purchased in advance at the IHCC Administration Building on the Centerville campus. Tickets will also be available at the door.
