CENTERVILLE --- Indian Hills Community College will celebrate 50 years of baseball on the college’s Centerville campus with a special reunion weekend October 21-22.
The event will include an opening reception, an alumni game, a golf tournament and a banquet with invitations for the weekend events sent to all former Indian Hills players.
The Indian Hills baseball program was started in 1961 and has enjoyed remarkable success in the past half-century. It’s hoped that players from all six different decades of IHCC baseball will return to share their memories of playing for the Falcons.
Indian Hills has made 11 trips to the NJCAA World Series including six appearances in a span of seven years in the 1990s.
Sixteen former IHCC players have made it to the Major Leagues and over 100 ex-Falcons have signed professional contracts.
Former Indian Hills pitcher Justin Berg has appeared in eight games with the Chicago Cubs this season, making it an amazing 37 years in a row that at least one Indian Hills baseball alum has appeared in a MLB game.
The reunion weekend will start with a reception at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, at the Barn on the IHCC Centerville campus. Saturday’s activities will begin with an alumni baseball game at 9:00 a.m. at Pat Daugherty Field, followed by a golf tournament at The Preserve at Honey Creek Resort with a noon shotgun start.
The day will conclude with a reception and banquet, also at Honey Creek, starting at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening.
